#MarieJamora began her career directing music videos and the longest running noontime show in the Philippines, Eat Bulaga. While touring her first feature film, Ang Nawawala (What Isn’t There) in the SlamDance Film Festival, she met her soon-to-be husband, Jason McLagan. From an unplanned visit to eventually immigrating to America, Marie has come a long way and is now calling the shots at some of the very famous TV series in Hollywood.
In July 2021, Marie received the card of the Directors Guild of America (DGA), the world’s preeminent organization representing directors and members of the directorial team with a membership of some 18,000 people. She has directed episodes for Queen Sugar (OWN), #TheCleaningLady (FOX), and Good Sam (CBS).
As a woman and a Filipina, Marie remains unfazed at people who underestimate her due to her race. But she is fiercely determined to bring Filipino culture to #Hollywood mainstream television and movies either through her work or by supporting other people’s work. Now, that’s a real Power Pinay!
