Another Filipino who is thriving in the world of public office is Sonny Santa Ines, the Mayor Pro Tem of the City of Bellflower. In 2011, he made history as being the top vote-getter and the first person of color to be elected to the council. Sonny has been giving back and serving in the community for over 12 years. But prior to life in public service, he led a private life as a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Internal Auditor. In this So True segment, Sonny tells more about his immigrant journey, his active role in the local community, and building his legacy through his many contributions to the city.
