The Asian World Film Festival (AWFF) brings the top films from a wide range of Asian World cinemas to Los Angeles in an effort to highlight the region’s talented filmmakers and solidify connections between the Asian and Hollywood film industries.
In this So On the Go episode, we were able to attend the Philippines Day of the film festival and chat with various directors, producers and actors/actresses about their films and their own takeaways from the stories they were featured in. We were also able to interview Erik Matti, Dondon Monteverde, and Joe Calrio about the Filipino crime thriller film, ‘On the Job: The Missing 8’ and their excitement of it being the official Philippine entry for the Oscars.
We were also given the opportunity to award some of the nominees along with Executive Director, FilAm Creative, Mark Labella and blogger, podcaster and Hollywood journalist MJ Racadio— whom we would like to thank for filling in for our CEO, Jannelle So-Perkins, in doing the red carpet interviews for this event.
