The Filipino Community In Washington D.C.

We bring back highlights from last month’s trip to Washington D.C. It was definitely such a memorable journey of meeting and connecting with fellow Filipinos and how they represent in their respective careers!

We also attended NaFFAA’s 25th Annual Filipino American History Month Reception where community leaders were recognized for their contributions to the community, and one of which is our very own CEO, Jannelle So-Perkins. NaFFAA Region Chair Ryan Namata talks to us about the Filipino-American community in DC and the different activities and interests that contribute to strengthening their culture.

Meanwhile, we discover more about Purple Patch, one of Washington, D.C.’s original Filipino eateries that is now a popular stop for both local and international travelers. Owner Patrice Cleary tells us about her experience in starting off as an entrepreneur and leaving an inspiring message that “you don’t have to think about what made you do it, you just have to look within yourself and take a leap of faith”.
