Manila Luzon, Kataluna Enriquez, and many more at APAIT’s 35th Anniversary Gala

Recently, #SoJannelle was invited to APAIT’s 35th anniversary gala and charity fashion show for mental health, housing, and HIV/AIDS called “Sashay The Runway”. We were able to meet and catch up with some popular personalities who graced the red carpet such as Manila Luzon, Kataluna Enriquez, and Garth Garcia.

Manila Luzon, a drag queen and reality television personality from RuPaul’s Drag Race, stressed the importance of Asian and LGBTQIA+ representation. Additionally, she shared that she takes pride of her Filipino heritage that’s why she named herself “Manila Luzon”.

Meanwhile, Kataluna Enriquez, the first trans woman to compete at Miss USA, is a proud representative of the trans community and LGBTQIA+ community. When asked about her message for LGBTQIA+, she said, “We are always enough. Don’t second guess yourself. Be proud of who you are. You’re born different for a purpose.”

Lastly, Garth Garcia, who is one of the performers, is thrilled to be part of this special event. He is a proud supporter and is actively involved in community events and Filipino organizations in the U.S.
