After nine years in the making, “Lumpia with a Vengeance” is ready to be served in theaters on September 30 nationwide. Following the cult hit “Lumpia”, this sequel is a comic book action comedy about a superhero who fights crimes using lumpia as his weapon of choice. For this movie, Patricio talks about experimenting with a formula that features a mix of stars with no acting background, as well as some of the more established names in the industry such as Danny Trejo, and other eprsonalities like Mark Muñoz, and Katrina Dimaranan.
The Filipino-American filmmaker further reveals that “Lumpia with a Vengeance”, was originally called “Lumpia 2”, following the successful first installment of his series. And for this second installment, the team turned to crowdfunding, nine years ago. In addition, the team’s day job salaries often helped fund the film’s production. But despite going through a long and difficult journey, what encouraged Patricio and his team to keep going is the support and validation that they’ve received from supporters.
