Being a makeup artist takes a lot of skill to be able to create unique looks that would perfectly complement one’s facial structure, features, and complexion. But with years of practice and experience, Monique Cruz became a celebrity makeup artist in Italy who has worked with luxury brands like Fendi and Moncler, and Filipino fashion designer Michael Cinco.
Monique migrated to Milan to pursue her dreams of honing her skills as a professional make up artist. However, early on in her career, she had to deal with the challenges of being an immigrant, struggling with discrimination, and being demotivated, all while working with unpaid collaborations. But that didn’t stop her from persevering and continuing to do what she loved.
She also talks about being part of Milan Fashion Week – how she was able to work with various brands, celebrities, and influencers, and how being part of the fashion industry has humbled her and improved her skills and makeup expertise.
