Hard work, determination, and eagerness to learn are some of the best qualities that a person can possess to achieve success. These characteristics are embodied by Tristan Magundayao, founder and designer of Higher+Higher, which is a contemporary womenswear brand that has a vision of elevating basic and everyday pieces through elevated style.
Back in the Philippines, Tristan has been working in the retail industry for almost 15 to 17 years. And because of his background and experiences, he was able to find a job easily when he moved to the U.S. in his 20s. He shares that he always works hard and aims to learn more because of his hunger to gain knowledge. His transparency and openness to learn provided opportunities for him to be promoted and opened doors for internships in merchandising and buying. Eventually, he became a stylist in a women’s boutique in California which led him to working for Nordstrom, DailyLook and building his own brand – #HigherHigher.
Creating Higher+Higher was definitely not easy for Tristan. He mentions that he struggled with funding and working on the brand itself. However, what kept him going is the strong support that he received from his family, friends, and the community. He also believes that by working harder and trusting the process, everything will fall into places.
