According to the Stop AAPI Hate National Report, majority of hate crimes and hate incidents happen in public areas such as parks, public transportation, and the top two: streets and businesses. Unfortunately, the Roque family was not spared and had a traumatic hate encounter one evening in May 2022.
In Part 1 of this #SoBold episode, Patricia Roque recounts the night that her family was targeted and assaulted in a parking lot of a local food chain. Atty. Sandy Roxas of Roxas Law, the Roque family’s legal counsel, explains the importance of reporting hate crimes and getting help in seeking and pursuing justice.
