On March 19, 2021, #HartfordHawks made history with their first-time ever #NCAAMensBasketball tournament stint, matched with the number one seeded Baylor University. And it’s the tournament that Filipino-American DeRohn #DJMitchell Jr. had dreamt of playing in since he first picked up a ball as a child. DJ Mitchell is from New Jersey, playing as shooting guard for the Hartford Hawks. For Mitchell, it was a dream come true. A dream that unfortunately lasted less than 20 seconds. He sustained an ankle injury and got sidelined for the rest of the game. But he refuses to let this setback crush his hoop dream. Mitchell is even giving thought to taking his career to the Philippines, the homeland of his mother Monica, who was raised in Manila. Due to the pandemic, he still has two years left of eligibility remaining at Hartford, but is considering playing for a school in the Philippines, and eventually pursuing the Philippine Basketball Association.
Hoop fans ???, give your support to DJ Mitchell! Like and send him your well-wishes in the comment below!??? Have you also experienced setbacks that caused you to be sidelined for a time? How were you able to get back up and move forward? Share with us!
