Filmmakers and talents create legacy of Philippine cinema in docu-series Habambuhay

If you ask a Gen Z youth and a baby boomer what they think about #Philippinecinema, you would probably get a myriad of answers—from their favourite titles, to celebrities they look up to the most, and how they consumed film—er, movies—in their day. It would make for an interesting talk, if you ask us.

In this #SoCandid segment with TBA Studios Producer Vincent Nebrida, we discuss about Habambuhay—the latest docu-series from the film company behind such films as Heneral Luna and Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral—and its very intent to celebrate and honour the 100th year of Philippine Cinema. “For us, it is important to be able to create a legacy,” says Nebrida. Habambuhay features actors, talents, filmmakers, who speak about their experience, their thoughts on the future of the industry, and why change is inevitable for everyone.

We are joined by critically-acclaimed actor #BembolRoco, whose contribution to the Philippine cinema has spanned almost 50 years, yet his passion to portray roles never faded. “That’s what I’m here for,” he shares. “I love to portray roles that can be meaningful and effective.”
