From scavenging scraps, #CarloPaalam now holds an #OlympicSilver medal at his hands. And he cannot be more grateful for the destiny God has written for him at the #TokyoOlympics. Living in poverty back in Cagayan de Oro, Paalam recalls to host, Jannelle So, how he never intended to box. But seeing that the sport can give him easier money than scavenging for garbage, he fearlessly stepped on the boxing ring at a very young age. And from his first winning of a little more than a hundred bucks, he remembers splurging them all on ice cream — something he has never tasted in his life then.
Until now, he cannot believe that he’ll be able to bring home an Olympic medal, finally buy things, and even ride an airplane. He feels that every sacrifice is worth it, and with a determined heart and faith in God, nothing is impossible. Such, his eyes are now fixed on the next Olympic games at Paris. And this young warrior is ready to train harder and finally bring home the GOLD!
