Make up and more with Mally Roncal of Mally Beauty

Joining us in this So Alive segment that aired as part of our SOjourn, to celebrate our 3rd Anniversary last July 25th – is successful Filipino-American #makeupartist – turned entrepreneur #MallyRoncal of Mally Beauty – who rose to fame for being make up artist to Hollywood A-listers Beyonce and Jennifer Lopez.

We invited Mally to give us tips on “How to color your world when everything seems drab and dull.”

We open the segment as Mally takes Jannelle through a fun make up tutorial using the Mally Glow Kit. This is especially good for mothers who are always on the go but also want to feel put together. But also good for everyone going on a Zoom meeting! The process is quick, simple and easy to follow!

Step 1 – Put a pea-sized amount of neutralising primer on the palm of your hand and dab it around your face. It will neutralise the redness on the face.

Step 2 – Put the dark circle corrector underneath the eyes, in between the eyebrows and also a little bit on the chin. Pat it out and blend it with your fingers. This will give you “8 hours of sleep in a wand”- Mally

Step 3 – Pat the blush stick on the apples of your cheeks for a pink glow. You can use some of this on your lips as well.

Step 4 – Apply some of the lighter shade eye stick on your lash line. This will make your eyes pop. Take the darker shade and apply some on the crease. A little definitely goes a long way.

Step 5 – Just put a couple of coats of the mascara on your lashes.

Step 6 – Apply the highlighter on your upper cheek bones.

Last but not the least, is to dab some of the mattifier on the face for a perfect finish. This comes as a free gift when you purchase the Mally Glow Kit.

After the make up tutorial, Mally shares her thoughts, realizations and learning during the pandemic: “It can get so overwhelming and there is no one [I believe] on the planet that hasn’t been affected one way or another,” she opens. But she quickly suggests to always look at the positive and find out what the silver-lining is in this situation.

“It will be hard but you need to protect your spirit by finding joy,” she says, as she continues to share her experience with her Mom.

According to Mally, her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer before she turned 1 and she was given 6 months to live. Yet, she ended up living till Mally was 17 years old. Mally says that’s what opened her eyes to the power of positivity. As her mother went through hardships by choosing to focus on gratitude and positive things. She says her mother’s battle taught her that it is best to use fear and insecurity to produce change.

Positivity to Mally is a muscle that needs to be trained because very few people are born with this ability. But at the same time it is also important to let yourself indulge even if it’s just eating 2 pieces of chicharron (fried pork rinds) which is so delectable, yet so unhealthy!

According to Mally, “Life is all about balance which means you also don’t have to be positive all the time.”

Mally believes that “mentally, spiritually and emotionally, we are going to come out better than we were before the pandemic. This is because we don’t have a choice but to adapt in the world that is ever-changing.”

Her main advice to everyone is to take advantage of this time to assess your mental health. This is your chance to find the positivity in life.
